Peacebuilding Technical Specialist

Description of Duties

The Peacebuilding Technical Expert will have significant experience in the field of peacebuilding and reconciliation, in order to lead and provide technical support to iMMAP Inc’s peacebuilding programming in Iraq.

Key Responsibilities include;

Design of data collection tools to support needs assessment, research, monitoring and evaluation of peacebuilding programming. Design and delivery of peacebuilding-related training packages for iMMAP Inc staff, partners and beneficiaries. Design and conduct workshops with project partners to share challenges, best practices, lessons learned, etc. Lead and oversee community-focused activities which aim to address the drivers of conflict and enhance social cohesion. Provide mentoring and technical support to local civil society organizations to support peacebuilding initiatives. In coordination with iMMAP Inc data analysts, undertake relevant data analyses to support research and project reporting. Draft briefs, research papers, evaluations and other reports related to peacebuilding programming. Develop MEAL frameworks to support monitoring and evaluation of peacebuilding programming. Lead development of peacebuilding-focused information, communication and education material. Ensure that conflict sensitivity considerations are mainstreamed throughout iMMAP Inc peacebuilding programming. Ensure that iMMAP peacebuilding programming adheres to relevant standards, including Do No Harm Framework. Undertake quality checks through field visits to targeted areas to ensure protection principles and standards are adhered to across all peacebuilding-related activities. Ensure feedback and accountability mechanisms are operational across all peacebuilding programming. Lead recruitment of technical staff. Support technical team in the design of any platforms and information management tools to support monitoring and disemmination of peacebuilding-related information Represent iMMAP Inc in relevant consultations and meetings.

Requirements

Education

Bachelors or master's degree in international development, social sciences, social work, human rights, international law, gender studies or other relevant discipline.

Experience

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in technical/programme management experience in peacebuilding and reconciliation in challenging contexts.
Similar experience in a technical advisory role is desirable. Design and implementation of project workplans to ensure effective execution of peacebuilding projects. Development and delivery of peacebuilding training packages to a variety of stakeholders. Design of data collection tools and MEAL frameworks Excellent knowledge of frameworks, standards, key principles and legislation related to peacebuilding. Coordinating with donors, international and national organizations and CSOs to support implementation of peacebuilding programming.

Skills

Demonstates good analytical skills to analyse data and synthesise information to undertake research and evaluation.
Technical writing skills including developing reports, evaluations and research papers. Excellent inter-personal skills. Strong communication skills to lead meetings, trainings and workshops. Ability to develop and carry out work plans and solve problems independently. Ability to perform well on tight deadlines, with a flexible attitude. Ability to recruit, develop and lead teams.

Languages

Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is essential.
Arabic language skills are highly desirable.
