Job Summary:
The Legal Advisor / Entertainment Lawyer is responsible for protecting the legal and business
interests of the artist, ensuring all contracts, intellectual property rights, and financial
agreements comply with industry laws and regulations. This role involves negotiating contracts,
handling disputes, protecting copyrights, and providing legal guidance on various aspects of
the entertainment industry. The Legal Advisor works closely with artists, managers, record
labels, production companies, and industry professionals to mitigate legal risks and ensure fair
business practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contract Drafting & Negotiation
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts for music releases, sponsorship deals, touring
agreements, and licensing deals.
• Ensure all agreements are fair, legally binding, and in the best interest of the artist.
• Work with record labels, streaming platforms, event organizers, and brands to secure
favorable terms.
2. Intellectual Property & Copyright Protection
• Ensure all creative works (music, lyrics, videos, branding) are legally protected.
• Register trademarks, copyrights, and licensing rights for the artist.
• Handle royalty disputes, copyright infringement cases, and intellectual property claims.
3. Financial & Business Legal Guidance
• Advise on royalty payments, contract terms, tax obligations, and investment strategies.
• Ensure the artist complies with financial regulations and tax laws.
• Work with financial managers to ensure accurate and transparent financial transactions.
4. Dispute Resolution & Legal Representation
• Handle contract disputes, breach of agreement cases, and business conflicts.
• Represent the artist in court, arbitration, or negotiations when necessary.
• Mediate disputes with record labels, managers, event organizers, or third parties.
5. Risk Management & Compliance
• Ensure the artist follows all industry laws, licensing regulations, and ethical business
practices.
• Prevent potential legal issues related to contracts, marketing, and intellectual property.
• Monitor media and public relations issues to minimize legal risks.
6. Brand Endorsements & Sponsorship Agreements
• Review and approve sponsorship and brand partnership contracts to ensure fair deals.
• Negotiate terms that protect the artist’s public image and financial interests.
• Ensure compliance with advertising laws and contractual obligations.
Skills
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Expertise in entertainment law, contract negotiation, and intellectual property.
• Strong understanding of music rights, licensing, publishing, and distribution agreements.
• Experience handling litigation, dispute resolution, and business law.
• Excellent negotiation and contract drafting skills.
• Knowledge of royalty structures, financial regulations, and tax laws.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and legal cases in a fast-paced industry.
• Law degree (LLB, JD) with a specialization in Entertainment Law or Business Law.
• Bar certification and legal practice experience in entertainment or media law (preferred).
Work Environment & Schedule:
• Location: Office-based, hybrid, or remote with occasional travel for meetings, negotiations,
and legal hearings.
• Work Hours: Flexible but may require availability during contract negotiations, disputes, or
urgent legal matters.
• Compensation: Base salary + commission from contract negotiations and legal services.
