elbarlament is looking for a Content Manager (32 hours/week) based in Iraq

Initially until February 2025

Job Description:

Elbarlament is a peacebuilding and democracy support organization, with a special focus on empowering women and youth, promoting culture, and protecting the environment. We follow a unique approach that integrates conflict sensitivity, cultural awareness, and intersectionality. Elbarlament cooperates with parliaments, governments, civil society actors, and international institutions, implementing projects and delivering consulting services. Our international and multilingual team is based in Berlin, Cologne, and Erbil (Iraq).

The content manager will coordinate and prepare various publications/articles and visual content in our new project in Iraq.

The tasks of the content manager include:

• Planning, implementation, and post-processing of the publications/articles/reports/infographics for an online platform; under consideration of the following criteria and tasks:

  • Conflict-sensitive selection and publication of the materials

  • Collected and to-be-published content shall be critically analyzed

  • Examination of selected content from other organizations

• Writing and editing various types of content including platform, website, app, social media, newsletter or any other types of related content

• Supporting the website editors in processing content by unifying it in form and language for the website

• Responsible for releasing any post, after identification and blocking of critical content on the online platform and related social media channels

• Building a database of organizations and contacts relevant to the project

• Maintaining relations with relevant stakeholders in the field of democracy support, peacebuilding, and cultural work in Iraq, especially in the field of content management

• Planning, implementation and post-processing of different videos and visual content

• Planning, implementation, and post-processing of statistics and data through graphics, etc.

• Working closely together and supporting the web editor with content production for social media channels

Requirements:

• University degree (bachelor's or comparable degree), preferably in journalism, social sciences, or humanities,

• Proven theoretical and practical knowledge about the pillars of civic education

• Proven expertise in content management, especially in planning, implementation, and post processing of the publications/articles

• Experience in social media management 

• Knowledge of Photoshop, Canvas, or any relevant design software

• Excellent and professional writing command of standard Arabic (Fusha)

• Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic 

• Work experience in an international and multi-stakeholder project

• Gender and conflict sensitivity

• Very good knowledge of the Iraqi political and social context

• Availability to travel within Iraq

The expected starting date is 1 April or 1 May 2023.
