Wood is currently recruiting for a Welding Engineer (Iraqi local nationals only) this position, and work pattern is 4 weeks ON X 4 weeks OFF , we can only consider applications from local Iraqi nationals residing in Basra and surrounding areas. This is a highly strategic role within the department and the ideal candidate will be at Principal or Lead level in their career with extensive years of experience within the industry in a similar role. Reporting to the QHSE Manager, leads welding quality by advising and guiding the project team on all aspects of welding, including procedures, materials, and inspections to minimize welding risks and ensure the compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the project. - Develop and implement welding procedures and qualifications for specific materials and applications in accordance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API). - Review and approve welding procedure specifications (WPSs) and welder qualification records (WQRs). - Provide technical guidance and support to welding inspectors and supervisors on weldability of materials, selection of welding processes and equipment, and interpretation of codes and standards. - To supervise and monitor the welder performance, welding parameters and all welding procedure qualification tests and welder performance qualification tests. - Welds shall be randomly and independently selected throughout the fabrication / construction period and fully examined. Percentage of tests to be done (including increased inspection levels when performance requirements are not met) - Investigate and diagnose welding defects and failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. - Develop and implement quality control plans for welding activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards. - Conduct in-depth audits and inspections of welding activities, materials, and equipment to identify deviations from procedures and specifications. - Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) related to welding and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). - Liaise with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders on welding-related technical issues and quality assurance matters. - Participate in project planning for welding activities, considering material, labor requirements, and equipment needs - Manage a team of welding inspectors and technicians, providing training, coaching, and performance evaluations. - Coordinate welding activities with other disciplines involved in the project, such as design, fabrication, and construction. - Monitor welding progress, identify and address potential delays or risks, and ensure timely completion of welding tasks within schedule. - Prepare clear and concise technical reports, welding procedure specifications, and other documentation related to welding activities. - Effectively communicate complex technical information to various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and welding personnel. - Promote a culture of safety and quality within the welding team, ensuring adherence to company safety protocols and best practices. - Foster collaboration with other engineering disciplines to optimize welding processes and integrate them seamlessly into the overall project design. - Monitor and trend quality key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement. - Participate actively in daily production meetings, providing QC and NDT updates. - Foster open communication with team members, colleagues, and stakeholders. - Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Adobe Acrobat.

- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field (required). - Minimum 10 years of experience in welding engineering, with at least 7 years in oil and gas projects. - Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or equivalent professional certifications (e.g., CSWIP 3.2, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)). - ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT, and PT required. - In-depth knowledge of relevant welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME IX, AWS D1.1, API). - Support and enforce project guidelines and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) objectives. - Participate in Job Safety Analysis, make suggestions, stop dangerous situations, and report anomalies, accidents, and incidents - Attend HSE meetings and training when necessary. - Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing welding projects in demanding environments The Phase 1 will restore, upgrade, and develop the current plant (CPF1) including: Restoration of initial CPF1 capacity; building a new export pipeline (24", ~30km); restoration of CPF1 integrity and operability (dated 2008); flaring reduction by Q1/Q2 2026 and released water; development of new flowlines, pads, and electrification network for approximately 30 new wells; debottlenecking of the plant; upgrade of the Safety and Security facilities.
