We are looking for a GMP Quantity Surveyor for one of our clients with the following details:  



Start Date: Nov 2024



Location: Basra, Iraq



Duration: 12 months, renewable



Work Status: Rotational 4x4



Qualifications And Experience Required:




  • Mandatory experience within company on Projects

  • Degree: Engineer or equivalent, with Quantity Surveying Certification

  • Professional & Contract experience: 15 years minimum in similar position, and with 5 to 10 years on similar large-scale projects & environment in company or in Iraq.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Language: English as mother tongue or Fluent in English (speaking and writing), French and/or Arabic language is a plus.


Activities




  • Be informed of Company Rules & Specifications (CR’s/GS’s), procedures, etc. Related to Contract and Procurement and their application to the Project.

  • Participate in the contractual management of awarded Contract(s), and liaise actively with concerned technical specialists for the technical management of Contractor(s).

  • Participate in the further development of contractual and commercial documentation (development of Bills of Quantities and/or Schedule of Rates) and review of technical documentation, measurement of work and timesheets / time records related to Contract Variations.

  • Participate in the verification of contractor’s progress of the EPC Contracts to ensure payment is in accordance with the claimed progress. To ensure, when required to do so, in coordination with the Contract Administrator that clear and accurate records of commercial and contractual matters are maintained and monitor actual progress and dates against Key dates defined in the EPC Contracts and reporting any delays caused by Contractors and/or COMPANY.

  • Assist the Senior Planner and Contract Administrator in assembling any data / documentation as requested for the management of any Variation Request and addendum (to the EPC Contracts) along with all financial aspects of the Contracts as described below:

  • Review and analysis of Variation Requests from EPC Contractors.

  • Quantum analysis of changes, comparison to initial scope, analysis of Contractor’s estimates.

  • Administration of Provisional Sums (when requested to do so) and verification of documentation submitted to Company, provision of forecasts for the purpose of cost control).

  • Identification and follow-up of any carry-over works (for the purposes of progress and payment)

  • Recording of EPC Contractors (including subcontractors and vendors) manpower and equipment resources against Contract work scope and any Variation Requests / claims (in addition to any Contractor records);

  • Recording of any EPC Contractors (including subcontractors and vendors) manpower and equipment resources against likes of stand-by, equipment down-time and the like (in addition to any EPC Contractor records);

  • Assist (if requested) with preparation of Company daily reports and provide any relevant input - manpower/discipline numbers; and

  • Review and advise any comments with respect to EPC Contractors daily reports and any correspondence (including any commercial and contractual matters) that is generated by and between Company and EPC Contractors.

  • Assist the Senior Planner and Contract Administrator, in close collaboration with Construction Team and GMP PMT Team, in the process of identifying and quantifying any Potential Variation (PV). This includes the development and maintenance of a log file, report of all events related to changes, defining pvs, build- up of estimates, probability of occurrence and registration in log file.

  • Participate in the close-out of the EPC Contracts.

  • Timely report to the Senior Planner, highlighting progress and encountered areas of concern with respect to his activities. To participate in the development of the Company Monthly Report for the section related to Variations Requests / Variations (i.e. Quantum analysis), and all necessary reporting as requested by management. To comment upon EPC Contractors weekly and monthly reports with respect to Variation Requests.

  • Gather ‘lessons learnt’ and prepare ‘Close-out Reports’ with respect Variations Requests, pvs, any claims and the like and to report upon any other matters deemed warranted and to provide feedback to other company entities as may be required.
