Job Details

The Mechanical & Hydraulic Technician (GSE) is responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on all Ground Support Equipment used in airport operations. This includes diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, hoses, valves, braking systems, chassis components, and all mechanical/hydraulic assemblies. The role ensures that GSE units remain safe, reliable, and operational to support continuous aircraft ground handling. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and hydraulic systems for all GSE, including: • Pushback tractors • Belt loaders • Baggage tractors • High-lift catering trucks • Lavatory/water service trucks • Ground Power Units (GPU – mechanical side) • Air Start Units (ASU – mechanical/hydraulic side) • Passenger stairs • All hydraulic-driven and mechanical-driven GSE Mechanical Maintenance Tasks • Engine repair and overhaul (diesel & gasoline) • Transmission repair (manual/automatic) • Cooling system service (radiators, hoses, thermostats) • Brake system service (air, hydraulic, mechanical) • Suspension & steering system repairs • Lubrication, oil/filter changes, belt replacement • Structural inspections (welding cracks, chassis damage) Hydraulic Maintenance Tasks • Hydraulic pump repair and replacement • Hydraulic cylinder rebuilding (seals, rods, pistons) • Valve block service and troubleshooting • Hose replacement, fitting installation, and leak rectification • System pressure testing and flow measurement • Hydraulic fluid flushing, bleeding, and contamination control Diagnostics & Technical Reporting • Uses mechanical and hydraulic diagnostic equipment • Identifies mechanical/hydraulic faults and root causes • Reads and interprets service manuals, diagrams, hydraulic schematics • Completes work orders, checklists, and maintenance reports accurately

A hands-on technician with 2-4 years of experience in heavy equipment, GSE, or hydraulic systems, capable of independently diagnosing and repairing mechanical and hydraulic faults, performing preventive maintenance, reading technical manuals, and ensuring GSE equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational in an airport environment. Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automotive Maintenance, or Hydraulic Systems. Experience: 2–4 years of experience in GSE, heavy vehicles, industrial machinery, or hydraulic systems, Strong understanding of engine, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, Airport GSE experience is desirable. Training Requirements: Mechanical & Hydraulic Systems Maintenance, Diesel Engine Repair Training, Hydraulic Troubleshooting.
