Background

The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that increase room bookings, restaurant revenue, and demand for the hotel’s services. Working within a five-star hotel with more than 300 guest rooms and multiple restaurants, the manager will lead sales

activities, manage marketing campaigns, develop commercial partnerships, and strengthen the hotel’s market position.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Sales and Marketing Manger’s duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

1.  Sales Strategy and Business Development

·         Prepare and implement the annual sales and marketing plan, aligned with the hotel’s revenue targets and business objectives.

·         Identify new business opportunities across corporate, leisure, group, and long-stay customer segments.

·         Develop relationships with companies, travel agencies, tour operators, embassies, government entities, and international organizations.

·         Conduct sales calls, client meetings, hotel inspections, and presentations to generate bookings.

·         Prepare proposals and negotiate corporate rates, group bookings, and commercial agreements within approved pricing and authority limits.

·         Maintain an active sales pipeline and follow up on enquiries, proposals, contracts, and account renewals.

 

2.  Room Revenue and Distribution

·         Work with the General Manager, reservations team, and revenue management function to improve occupancy, average daily rate, and revenue per available room.

·         Review booking trends, competitor activity, and demand patterns to recommend pricing and promotional actions.

·         Develop packages and targeted offers to support periods of lower demand.

·         Coordinate the hotel’s presence on online travel agencies and booking platforms, ensuring accurate descriptions, images, and offers.

·         Increase direct bookings and assess the profitability of sales channels, considering commissions and acquisition costs.

 

3.  Restaurant Marketing

·         Develop promotional plans for the hotel’s restaurants in coordination with food and beverage management.

·         Promote dining experiences, seasonal menus, special occasions, and group dining offers.

·         Build relationships with corporate clients and local businesses to generate restaurant bookings.

·         Measure promotions against restaurant revenue, customer response, and campaign costs.

 

4.  Marketing and Brand Management

·         Manage the hotel’s website content, social media, digital advertising, email campaigns, and promotional materials.

·         Ensure all communications reflect the hotel’s five-star positioning and present its facilities accurately.

·         Coordinate photography, video production, advertising agencies, and other marketing suppliers.

·         Manage public relations activities and relevant media partnerships.

·         Monitor online feedback and coordinate responses with guest relations and hotel management.

 

5.  Client and Account Management

·         Maintain an accurate customer database, including contacts, booking history, negotiated rates, and follow-up actions.

·         Develop account plans for key clients and identify opportunities for repeat business.

·         Coordinate confirmed bookings and client requirements with reservations, front office, and restaurant teams.

·         Follow up after stays or services to assess satisfaction and retain clients.

·         Coordinate with finance on agreed payment terms and outstanding balances for managed accounts.

 

6.  Team Leadership and Performance Reporting

·         Lead the sales and marketing team, assign account responsibilities, and set measurable targets.

·         Manage the approved departmental budget and monitor campaign expenditure.

·         Track sales conversion, account production, direct bookings, campaign return, and progress against revenue targets.

·         Submit regular reports covering results, forecasts, market developments, and corrective actions.

·         Train team members in hotel products, sales techniques, account management, and professional client communication.

Qualifications and Experience

·         Bachelor degree in Marketing, Media or relevant fields

·         A minimum of five years of relevant experience.

·         Relevant experience with hospitality is Desirable.

Language Requirements

·         Kurdish: Desirable but not mandatory.

·         Arabic: professional spoken and written proficiency is required.

·         English: professional spoken and written proficiency is required.

·         Candidates must be able to conduct meetings, communicate with guests and employees, and prepare or review business correspondence in Arabic and English.
