We are looking for a General Accountant to join our agriculture company in Iraq. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations in Iraq and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to the Chief Accountant in Lebanon.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records for the Iraq operations.
• Record and process invoices, receipts, payments, expenses, journal entries, and other accounting transactions.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform regular bank, cash, supplier, and customer reconciliations.
• Monitor purchases, expenses, payments, collections, and outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate records of agricultural purchases, materials, equipment, supplies, and operational expenses.
• Record and monitor costs related to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, labor, transportation, machinery, and other agricultural inputs.
• Monitor inventory and stock movements and reconcile accounting records with physical stock.
• Maintain proper records of fixed assets, machinery, vehicles, and agricultural equipment.
• Prepare monthly accounting reports and supporting schedules for review by the Chief Accountant in Lebanon.
• Provide regular updates on cash flow, expenses, receivables, payables, and outstanding payments.
• Assist in preparing budgets, cash-flow reports, cost analysis, and financial forecasts.
• Monitor farm and operational costs and provide accurate cost reports.
• Assist with payroll-related accounting transactions when required.
• Ensure all financial documents are properly organized, filed, and maintained.
• Coordinate with suppliers, customers, banks, auditors, and other relevant parties in Iraq.
• Follow accounting procedures and guidelines established by the Chief Accountant and management in Lebanon.
• Work closely with the Chief Accountant in Lebanon to ensure consistency and accuracy between the Iraq and Lebanon accounting records.
• Support the Chief Accountant with any additional financial reports, analysis, or accounting requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum 3 5 years of relevant accounting experience.

Previous experience in an agriculture, farming, trading, or production company is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.

Good knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and expense control.

Knowledge of Iraqi accounting and tax regulations is an advantage.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with the Chief Accountant in Lebanon.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Fluent Arabic and good English are required.
