Teaching and Learning
- Planning, preparing and delivering plans and evaluation in accordance with the School’s curriculum plans for the particular year groups/subjects covered and in accordance Assessment, Language and Inclusion Policies
- Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students in accordance with the Assessment, Language, and Inclusion Policies
- Delivering personalised instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning in accordance with the Assessment and Inclusion Policies primarily through differentiation of instruction
- Managing curriculum delivery and associated resources in a manner that challenges students and is consistent with the school’s and departmental policies and procedure
- Assigning, correcting, and marking/giving feedback on student work
- Assessing, recording, and reporting on development, progress, achievement of each student
- Providing and/or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students
- Collaborating with grade level and section staff in the development and delivery of unit and lesson plans
- Implementing the School’s Home Learning Policy
- Ensuring that all School technology and teaching tools are used in accordance with any Technology User Agreement and Acceptable Use of Technology Policy
- Modelling the Academic Integrity Policy
- Implementing the requirements of the Teacher Guidance document
- Ensuring that contact time is fully utilised and teaching and learning maximised
Specific Responsibilities
- Supporting and implementing the School’s Mission, Vision, and Key Qualities at all times
- Nurturing a culture of care in which the education, safety and well-being of students and others are paramount.
- Promoting and developing the culture and ethos of the school
- Modelling the Evolution and CIS Code of Ethics
- Ensuring strict compliance with the School’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
- Communicating, consulting and cooperating with other members of the school community, to ensure the best interest of students
- Reviewing and evaluating one’s own teaching and learning strategies, methodologies and planning in line with the school’s curriculum
- Working with Heads of Sections, CLs and ICMLs to develop, implement, and deliver curriculum, teaching programmes and assessments
- Committing oneself to continued professional development, including individualised goals regarding teaching qualifications
- Keeping up-to-date with curriculum development through attending continuous professional development (CPD) in and out of school in line with the school’s Strategic Plan
- Ensuring the discipline and safety of all students at all times, in addition to actively supervising students before and after school and during break time duties
- Being an active participant in meetings
- Participating in school assemblies/events as required
- Ensuring the correct usage and storage of school equipment
- Undertaking homeroom duties including morning homeroom time and registration
- Ensuring homerooms are organised, tidy and any breakages are reported to maintenance
- Supervising teaching assistants and assisting in their professional development when or where appropriate
- Meeting all deadlines
- Providing cover work in line with the School’s policy
- Supervising cover lessons as directed using the work provided or alternative appropriate work
- Participating effectively in the planning and delivery of the CCE lesson/community service projects/CAS, clubs and mentoring lessons as appropriate
- Following School policies with regard to the health and safety of students
- Communicating student issues with parents in a timely and professional manner in accordance with School policy
- Assisting with the implementation of the community and service and the co-curricular programme
- Complying with requirements regarding arrival and departure at School, for classes, and events
- Following and implementing all School policies and procedures
- Invigilating or completing other assigned roles in support of internal and external examinations, projects, academic programmes, and more during school hours
- Ensure that all teaching and learning are conducted in English with the exception of Arabic, German, and French languages
- Completing all other duties as assigned by the Head of Section or Director
