In 2003, , DRC became one of the first organizations to provide humanitarian assistance in the country. Today, DRC continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable displacement-affected families, including IDPs, returnees, and host communities in Basra, Baqubah, Jalawla, Gatoon, Baghdad, Muqdadiya, Balad, Aziz Balad, Samarra, Mosul, Duhok, Tel Afar, Baa’j, Sinjar, and Erbil.

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified [Guard / Cleaner]
The overall purpose of the role:
The Guard / Cleaner will work under the guidance of the HR and Admin Team Leader and Security Officer for the Danish Refugee Council to provide cleaning and security of the Danish Refugee Council's properties as well as monitor the state of public safety and the implementation of safety regulations and safety plans as defined by the direct supervisor. Moreover, the Guard / Cleaner will work under the guidance of HR and Admin Team Leader and HR and Admin Assistant for DRC to maintain the office clean and appropriate working environment.

Main Responsibilities:



Service Provision:



Ensure security of DRC property and provide necessary support of office door access for staff and visitors. Secure DRC facilities including all the vehicles parked in the area. Control access to DRC facilities Assist in loading/unloading vehicles. Ensure keeping the facility and street outside clean – remove rubbish etc. Ensure keeping the facility clean and organized to be an appropriate working environment. Welcome visitor; ensure the visitor’s book is signed; and direct the visitor to the office Switch on/off the generator and water pumps as required. Report any security incident to the Safety officer and HR and Admin Team Leader. Follow DRC security and admin guidelines. Any other assignment by the line manager

Rules:



Remain vigilant at all times and ready to react. Behave in accordance with DRC low-profile security rules as well as administrative rules. No personal visitors while you are working on shift. All visitors to be respected and treated fairly. Be clean and presentable for your duties. No guard is allowed to use abusive language. Do not leave your post without permission. Arrive in the office 1 hour before to prepare the office with cleanliness for staff to start the work. Notify HR and Admin Assistant for closing the office while leaving the office after working time. Any guard/Cleaner engaging in a criminal act will be automatically dismissed. Non-interference with the work of the Protection staff members.

Others



Maintain positive work relationships within the team and promote team-building efforts in coordination with the HR and Admin Team Leader. Ensure respect for the DRC Code of Conduct. Participate in training and coaching as required on services, relevant SOPs, and the data filing and storing procedures. Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the HR and Admin Team Leader.
Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
Previous experience in the admin field. Proven team player. Fluent in writing and reading in the Arabic language. Good communication skills. Able to lead by example. Excellent standard of dress and personal appearance (according to visibility profile). Familiarity with humanitarian principles and practices is an advantage.
Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

Essential qualification:



Previous experience in admin and Safety field. Proven team player and leader. Good communication skills. Able to lead by example. Excellent standard of dress and personal appearance (according to visibility profile).

Desirable qualifications:



Experience of working with UN or Non-Governmental Organizations. Familiarity with humanitarian principles and practices is an advantage. Understanding of Cleaning and safety roles.

Fluency in Arabic.
