We are looking for an EIW Construction Manager for one of our clients with the following details:
Location: Basrah, IRAQ
Start Date: Apr 2025
Contract Duration: 1 year, renewable
Work status: Rotation 28x28
Qualification and Experience Required:
- Professional Experience (years): 15+ years in Oil and Gas projects.
- Experience in similar position (years): 8 years with managerial responsibilities, including in project execution.
- Technical skills: previous experience in civil works, early works, roads construction required.
- Level / Diploma: Civil engineering degree or equivalent
- Languages: Fluency in English (speaking and writing); Arabic would be a plus.
- Soft skills: must exhibit strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Effectively coordinate teams, manage subcontractors, and communicate with stakeholders. The role demands autonomy, quick thinking to resolve issues that arise on site and the capacity to make decisions.
Missions & Activities
The job holder is responsible to:
- Define, propose and manage the organization of a construction team dedicated to the wellpads early infrastructure civil works activities, and to ensure an appropriate plan for mobilization.
- Ensure that the early works meet all Project requirements, and comply with all applicable rules, codes and standards, specifically with regards to H3SE requirements.
- Manage Company site supervision team and all early works Contractors and Subcontractors during Construction phase of early works
- Delivery of the early works as per the agreed budget and the planned schedule.
- Help and manage the Contractors and Subcontractors’ performance through continuous direct reports.
- Provide oversight of Contractors and Subcontractors’ performance/productivity including Health and Safety, Environmental, Community Relations, Quality assurance, Schedule and Cost including measurable items
- Ensure that accurate daily records of Contractors/Subcontractors’ activities are kept and promptly notify the project control team of any issues that may have commercial implication (Claims), and Support Company contract team in the administration of EPC Contract
- Hand over adequate wellpads early infrastructure civil works for future use by other project packages.
Contribute to:
- Update regularly the risk register of the package and implement the corresponding mitigation actions.
- Identify and promote innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Implement the local content plan as approved, and for motivating contractors to effectively carry out all necessary steps.
Accountabilities
- Managing construction planning, quality and budget, ensuring costs are controlled and projects stay within financial limits.
- Ensuring all construction activities comply with legal requirements, civil codes, and safety regulations.
- Overseeing construction teams, contractors and subcontractors, and other personnel, providing guidance and resolving on-site issues.
- Monitoring the quality of work to ensure it meets project specifications and standards.
- Identifying potential risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
- Maintaining clear and effective communication with contractors and subcontractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Regularly reporting on project progress, budget status, and any issues that arise.
