<h4>Roles of an operations manager</h4>
<ul>
<li><strong>Leader & decision-maker</strong> - Oversees field operations, manages teams, and makes key operational decisions.</li>
<li><strong>Strategic planner</strong> - Develops production strategies to maximize output and reduce downtime.</li>
<li><strong>Safety guardian</strong> - Ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.</li>
<li><strong>Resource allocator</strong> - Manages manpower, equipment, and budget to optimize productivity.</li>
<li><strong>Liaison</strong> - Acts as a bridge between field operations, corporate management, contractors, and regulatory bodies.</li>
<li><strong>Problem-solver</strong> - Quickly addresses operational disruptions, equipment failures, or emergency situations.</li>

<h4>Responsibilities of an operations manager</h4>
<p><strong>Operational management</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Plan, organize, control and oversee production strategy execution.</li>
<li>Ensure stable production looking to meet set production targets.</li>
<li>Minimize downtime and optimize use of facilities, plants, wells, and equipment.</li>
<li>Review and assess production requirements for production strategies and any planned outages or TARs.</li>
<li>Manage emergent production outages to ensure most efficient resolution and restarts.</li>
<li>Monitor KPIs such as production rates, efficiency, and operating costs.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Health, safety & environment (HSE)</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Enforce strict adherence to HSE standards and regulations.</li>
<li>Lead safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.</li>
<li>Develop and implement emergency response plans.</li>
<li>Promote a safety-first culture among staff and contractors.</li>
<li>Conduct and participate in site walkdowns with team and representatives.</li>
<li>Ensure emergency response plans exercises are conducted in line with requirements liaising with HSE and ERT teams.</li>
<li>Focal operational emergency communications with site management.</li>

<p><strong>People & team management</strong></p>

<li>Manage, supervise, motivate field staff and contractors.</li>
<li>Plan and manage manpower availability and work rotation requirements.</li>
<li>Manage disciplinary issues, conflicts, and performance reviews.</li>

<li>Prepare and manage operational budgets.</li>

<li>Coordinate with maintenance department for preventive and corrective maintenance of field equipment.</li>

<li>Support/liaise with engineering to solve operational challenges and requirements impacting production.</li>
<li>Ensure integrity of pipelines, wells, and storage facilities.</li>
