Key Objectives:
The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership, coordinating multi‑discipline engineering activities, and ensuring that all design and project execution requirements are met. This role oversees the engineering aspects of assigned projects, working closely with project managers, designers, contractors, and key internal/external stakeholders to meet project goals related to quality, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and coordinate engineering design teams to meet project objectives within approved quality, cost, and schedule parameters.
- Provide technical leadership on allocated projects, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and contractual technical requirements.
- Review and understand P&IDs, control narratives, logic diagrams, engineering drawings, and project documentation.
- Develop project-specific standards, templates, and typicals as needed.
Project Execution Support
- Ensure group work complies with all quality and safety procedures.
- Support development of cost estimates, schedules, procurement documentation, and technical specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and model review sessions to proactively identify risks and propose mitigations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a technical liaison between engineering teams, clients, third‑party vendors, and contractors.
- Provide support to proposal and sales teams during project pursuit phases.
Project Monitoring & Problem Resolution
- Monitor engineering progress and ensure transitions from design to implementation stages are smooth and aligned with project goals.
- Address engineering challenges, provide troubleshooting support to operations/maintenance teams, and ensure issues are resolved efficiently.

Expected:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, etc.) or related discipline.
- Professional Engineering (PE) or equivalent registration/certification is preferred (e.g., APEGA, PMP).
- Typically, 15-20 years of project engineering experience, including leading multi‑discipline engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering design processes, technical standards, and industry best practices.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Proficiency with engineering design tools, project planning software, and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Lean, TQM, TPM, 6σ, and other engineering/process improvement methodologies is often desirable.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
