Position Summary
Shooting Star Academy is seeking qualified and disciplined Part-Time Tutors to support students in grades 8–12, primarily from international school backgrounds. This appointment-based role is open to tutors specializing in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, delivering instruction aligned with English-language curricula. The position is suited for educators who value accountability, are comfortable working within a structured academic system, and are committed to consistent, measurable student progress.
Subjects We Are Hiring For
Applicants may apply for one or more of the following subjects:English (Language & Literature) Ability to also teach History and Social Studies in English is considered an advantage. Mathematics Ability to teach AP Calculus is considered an advantage. Physics Ability to teach AP Physics is considered an advantage. Chemistry Ability to teach AP Chemistry is considered an advantage. Biology Ability to teach AP Biology is considered an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver subject-specific instruction to students in grades 8–12 through individual sessions and small-group sessions (maximum three students per group; group sessions by student request only) Teach content aligned with English-based school curricula Plan and prepare lessons thoroughly to meet student needs and academic objectives Clearly explain concepts and problem-solving methods at varying ability levels Maintain effective classroom management while remaining patient with weaker students Complete required post-lesson academic documentation for every session Follow internal teaching, reporting, and lesson-management processes Participate in feedback, supervision, and performance review processes Support consistent student progress through structured follow-up and monitoring
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strong subject mastery at the secondary and upper-secondary level Ability to teach confidently using English as the language of instruction Clear, structured explanation style suitable for international curricula Comfortable receiving feedback and working under academic supervision Patient, structured, and firm in classroom management Reliable, punctual, and prepared for scheduled sessions Able to work within an organized, system-driven teaching environment
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the subject applied for (e.g. English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or Education with subject specialization)2–3 years of teaching experience preferred (Exceptional candidates with strong subject mastery may be considered with limited experience) Demonstrated ability to teach at the secondary and upper-secondary school level
Work Schedule
Part-time, on-site role, with teaching hours based on scheduled student bookings On-site presence required only when sessions are scheduled, with readiness expected before each lesson Typical availability windows:Sunday–Wednesday: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PMFriday: 2:30 PM – 9:30 PMSaturday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PMThursday off
