Lead the commercial function at Umm Qasr Port Berth 6- driving revenue, optimizing tariffs and contracts, managing customer relationships, and supporting expansion into bulk, general, and containerized cargo as well as value-added logistics services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESKey Responsibilities:1) Tariff & Contract Management Develop and maintain competitive pricing models and tariff structures for berthage, wharfage, handling, storage, and logistics services. Negotiate and draft commercial agreements: berth allocations, cargo handling, storage, logistics, and value-added services at the Umm Qasr Berth 6Support the pricing of bulk ,general cargo operations, containerized and Ro-Ro Operations ensuring margins align with market conditions.2) Customer Relationship & Business Development Build strong relationships with shipping lines, commodity traders, freight forwarders, logistics providers, and government agencies (e.g., customs, port authority). Win new cargo contracts by showcasing the port's capabilities,Manage key accounts, resolve disputes, and ensure SLA compliance.3) Commercial Strategy & Market Intel Monitor market trends—regional cargo flows, commodity pricing, competing Iraqi and regional ports—to identify growth opportunities. Define commercial growth strategies aligned with the port’s expansion, including new yards and terminals Collaborate with GCPI stakeholders and Customers4) Performance Management & Reporting Track commercial KPIs: revenue by service line, tariff utilization, berth occupancy, volume growth, customer acquisition, disputes, demurrage income. Prepare monthly/quarterly commercial dashboards and pipeline reports. Provide commercial input to the annual business plan, ensuring targets align with market potential.5) Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement Coordinate with government entities (Iraqi Customs, GCPI, Ministry of Transport, Port Security). Support marketing initiatives—including participation in industry forums, regional trade fairs, and trade delegations—to promote Umm Qasr's Berth 6 capacity and value proposition.6) Contract Administration & Governance Ensure adherence to contractual terms and internal governance (delegation of authority, audit compliance). Oversee contract renewals, amendments, and termination procedures. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSEducational and Technical Qualifications:Bachelor's in Business, Logistics, Shipping, Maritime Studies, or related field; MBA preferred.8–12 years in commercial roles within ports, terminals, or logistics; experience primarily across bulk, general, containerized cargoes , experience in Ro‑Ro operations is an added advantage. Regional experience in MENA, especially Iraq or the Gulf, is highly desirable. Strong negotiation experience with carriers, traders, and logistics firms.
Skills & Competencies Commercial Acumen: pricing models, volume/revenue forecasting, tariff elasticity. Negotiation: commercial contracts, SLAs, demurrage/detention terms. Customer Focus: relationship development, issue resolution, account management. Market Insight: cargo flows, competitor ports, regional trade dynamics. Analytical Reporting: KPI visualization, revenue vs forecasts, variance analysis.. Regulatory: familiarity with Iraqi customs, GCPI, logistics regulations, security protocols.
Language Skills:cross-cultural fluency in Arabic & English Years of Experience:knowledge and skills with a minimum 8 years’ experience Nature of Experience:ERP or Port Tariff Systems, CRM platforms, Excel/Power BI for commercial analytics. Familiarity with PCS/EDI systems, container yard tracking, Ro‑Ro scheduling.
Working Conditions Based at Umm Qasr Port, including travel to customer sites. Frequent interaction with internal teams (Planners, Ops, Finance) and external partners (shipping lines, traders, customs). Occasional travel to Basra, Baghdad, GCC region, and participation in trade events.
