- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections; report defects, hazards or incidents immediately and complete required documentation.
- Follow safe loading, hauling and dumping procedures to protect personnel, equipment and materials.
- Coordinate with drill/blasting, haulage and dispatch teams to optimize cycle times and material flow.
- Conduct basic on-site maintenance and troubleshooting (fluid checks, filter changes, lubrication, tire/track inspections) and escalate mechanical issues to maintenance crews.
- Adhere to all site safety rules, permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout procedures and environmental controls.
- Maintain accurate logs and records (hours, loads, fuel usage, incident reports) and assist with daily production reporting.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and training programs; mentor less-experienced operators as required.
- Operate telematics/vehicle monitoring systems and follow guidance from site dispatch/automation workflows when applicable.
- Assist with site housekeeping, traffic management and other ad-hoc duties to support smooth operations.

Qualifications
- Valid heavy equipment operator certification / ticket or equivalent license as required by local regulation.
- Minimum 2–3 years (or more) proven experience operating shovels, haul trucks and loaders in a mining, quarrying, or heavy construction environment.
- Familiarity with mine-site safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., MSHA, OSHA equivalents) and experience in permit-to-work regimes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to perform routine inspections and basic corrective actions.
- Good situational awareness, disciplined approach to safety and reliable decision-making under pressure.
- Ability to read load plans, follow dispatch instructions and use basic digital/telematics tools.
- Physically fit and able to work long shifts, rotational schedules, and in variable weather/underground conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance teams and contractors.
- Preferred: experience in mining of bulk commodities (salt, aggregates, minerals) and familiarity with haulage optimization practices.

What We Offer
