Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the financial administration of supervision contracts. The jobholder checks contractors’ payment applications and verifies the amounts claimed by contractors against supplier invoices and measurement records. He provides advice on methods of measurement found in the contract and ensures the contractor is accurately paid for actual work done in accordance with the method of measurement stated in the contract.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Planning Engineer and the Project Manager in reviewing the work program and submittals proposed by the contractor
• Read and understand the contents and details of the bill of quantities for each project as well as the preamble to the bill of quantities, and any other documents relating to payments to the contractor
• Discuss and attempt to reach mutual agreement with the contractor on rates for new work items that are not covered in the Bill of Quantities and submit rates to the Project Manager for review
• Review the specifications, Bill of Quantities and drawings and advise the Project Manager of any differences and/or discrepancies in Contract documents for methods of measurements, at the beginning of every project

• Review quantities executed by contractors against drawings, measurement sheets and invoices for discrepancies and differences
• Monitor contractor’s work on site and in maintaining daily site diary
• Monitor the contractor’s daily activities and resources allocation against plan
• Develop periodic project progress reports in coordination with the Associate Project Manager and site teams
• Assist in the preparation of monthly cost reports, as needed
• Ensure that As Built drawings, O&M manuals and warranty certificates are provided accurately by the contractor
• Prepare commissioning reports and snag lists during the Handover and Defects Liability Period
Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• PMP Certification is preferred
• 15+ years of experience in the Engineering Services Industry particularly in a quantity surveying role
• Demonstrated experience with FIDIC Clauses
• Knowledge of construction supervision services
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Excellent planning and organizational skills

• Good communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English
