China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd. (CPP) is a leading EPC contractor specializing in oil & gas pipeline systems, infrastructure development, and integrated energy solutions worldwide. As part of our strategic overseas expansion, we are executing key oilfield infrastructure works in Iraq’s Majnoon Oilfield.
We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Lead Engineer – Laboratory who is willing to relocate to Iraq for a long-term project-based assignment.
Role Overview:
The Technical Lead Engineer will be responsible for the full technical and operational management of the on-site laboratory at Majnoon Oilfield. The role supports oil, gas, and water treatment operations by ensuring accurate laboratory analysis, compliance with international standards, and adherence to HSE regulations.
This is a remote oilfield-based role requiring adaptability to challenging site conditions and a rotational work schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage daily laboratory operations (oil, gas, and water analysis).
2. Ensure compliance with international standards such as API, ASME, ISO and project HSE requirements.
3. Supervise laboratory testing, data review, reporting, and quality control.
4. Coordinate with engineering, production, QA/QC, and water treatment teams.
5. Oversee laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
6. Manage laboratory consumables, budgets, and sample tracking processes.
7. Identify and mitigate technical, safety, and data risks.
8. Prepare technical reports and performance summaries for project management.
9. Provide technical training and leadership to laboratory personnel.
10. Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce HSE compliance.
1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Oil & Gas Analysis, Water Treatment Engineering, Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
2. Certifications (At least one required):
- ISO Laboratory Auditor
-API certification (Oil & Gas testing related)
-Registered Chemical Engineer
-Senior Water Quality Testing Technician
-NEBOSH (preferred)
3. Experience:
-Minimum 5 years of laboratory experience in oil & gas / EPC projects.
-At least 3 years of overseas oil & gas project experience (Middle East experience preferred).
-Experience in oilfield laboratories, gas processing plants, or water treatment labs.
-Strong knowledge of API, ASME, ISO standards.
-Experience working in remote site-based projects.
4. Technical Skills:
-Gas chromatographs and water quality analyzers operation.
-Laboratory data processing software.
-MS Project, CAD, ERP systems.
-Strong report writing and documentation skills (English required).
