Job purpose
Lead and optimize material management operations for the KBR-IFMS project in Basra. Ensure efficient receiving, storage, inventory control, and distribution of materials; drive procurement coordination, supplier performance, and compliance to achieve on-time delivery, cost control, and quality standards within safety and project requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the material management strategy for the project, aligning with budget, schedule, and scope.
- Lead and mentor the material management, logistics, compliance, vendor management, supply chain, contracts management, and facility management procurement teams.
- Oversee material planning, inventory control, warehousing, and distribution to site operations; optimize stock levels and turns.
- Manage supplier onboarding, qualification, performance evaluation, and relationships to ensure reliable material supply.
- Coordinate end-to-end material flows: demand forecasting, GRNs, POs, receiving, staging, and issue to sites.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, company policies, and project-specific standards (ethics, anti-corruption, HSE).
- Monitor KPIs for material management and logistics performance; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with project controls, engineering, and operations to align material milestones with project schedules.
- Manage risk related to material availability, lead times, and supplier reliability; develop contingency plans.
- Oversee contract administration related to materials and services, including change management and claims mitigation where applicable.
- Ensure accurate material master data, BOMs, POs, receipts, and documentation; maintain audit trails.
- Lead safety and quality initiatives within material handling and storage operations.
- Prepare and present regular material management status reports to project leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., supply chain management, procurement, engineering, business administration).
- Minimum 15 years of experience managing teams across material management, logistics, compliance, vendor management, supply chain, contracts management, and procurement for facility management or related sectors.
- Proven track record in large-scale project material management, preferably in oil & gas, industrial, or defense environments (onshore/offshore experience a plus).
- Strong understanding of international and local material management processes, regulatory requirements, and contract considerations.
Technical skills
- Material planning, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics optimization
- End-to-end material management lifecycle (requirements, receipt, storage, issue, and payment)
- Vendor risk management and compliance (ethics, anti-corruption, HSE)
- Data analysis, KPIs, and performance reporting
- ERP/materials modules (e.g., SAP MM, Oracle Inventory, or equivalents)
- Change management and issue resolution
- Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Familiarity with Basra/Iraq local market dynamics and regulatory environment is advantageous
