EDAT35 - Principal Technical Professional - Data Science
KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.
We are looking for a data scientist who wants to build analytics solutions that influence real operational decisions.
This role is first and foremost about data science excellence — statistical rigor, scalable analytics, automation, and measurable impact. Domain knowledge of ESP systems is helpful but not required. Strong data capability is.
What you will do:
Design & deliver advanced analytics
Develop statistical models and machine learning solutions to detect patterns, predict failures, and optimize performance
Apply regression, ensemble methods, boosting, and time-series techniques where appropriate
Perform feature engineering and model validation using real-world, imperfect datasets
Deploy models into production workflows via APIs or automated pipelines
Build scalable data solutions
Write clean, efficient Python and SQL code for analytics and automation
Design robust data pipelines and improve data architecture in collaboration with IT
Automate repetitive analysis and reporting tasks
Continuously improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of analytics solutions
Create high-impact visualization & reporting
Develop advanced Power BI dashboards with strong data modelling and DAX logic
Translate complex datasets into intuitive visual stories
Ensure dashboards are accurate, automated, and aligned with stakeholder needs
Strengthen data governance & quality
Implement validation checks and monitoring frameworks
Improve data integrity across databases and reporting platforms
Ensure analytics outputs meet governance and security standards
Experience, qualifications & key skills
Experience
5–8 years in data science, advanced analytics, or data engineering
Experience working with large, complex datasets in industrial, technical, or high-availability environments
Experience in oil & gas or with ESP systems is a plus, not a requirement
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative field
Advanced certifications in machine learning or AI are an advantage
Technical expertise
Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, etc.)
SQL (advanced querying, optimization, data modeling)
Power BI (data modeling, DAX, advanced visualization)
Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
Solid understanding of ML lifecycle: data prep ? modeling ? validation ? deployment
Experience integrating models into production environments
Familiarity with cloud platforms is desirable
Analytical strength
Strong grounding in statistical modeling and hypothesis testing
Experience with time-series analysis and anomaly detection
Ability to work with noisy, incomplete, and operational datasets
Strong problem framing and structured analytical thinking
Core competencies
Clear communicator who can explain complex models in business terms
Self-directed and execution-focused
Comfortable challenging assumptions with data
Able to prioritize high-impact analytics over “nice-to-have” experiments
Continuous learner with strong ownership mindset
How success is measured
Accuracy, robustness, and deployment of analytics models
Measurable business impact from data-driven recommendations
Automation of manual reporting and analytical processes
Stakeholder adoption of dashboards and data tools
Improvement in data quality and reliability
Why join
You will operate in a live, high-scale production environment where:
Data is abundant and underutilized
Problems are real and measurable
Analytics must survive operational reality
