Job description
QA/QC Civil & Structural Inspector will be responsible for the site-based civil and structural works for the project and main development facilities and equipment located in Majnoon. A good candidate would have solid multi-discipline oil and gas operations knowledge and related supervisory and inspection experience in a similar capacity with a good understanding of project specifications, norms, and regulations as well as international codes.
Support and promote project HSSE requirements within QA/QC activities and inspections. QA/QC Civil & Structural Inspector will monitor local civil contractor, interface with responsible engineers and construction supervision team.
QA/QC Civil & Structural Inspector will report to Site QA/QC Lead and has a reporting line to the Quality Assurance Discipline.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Control execution of field civil works activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards.
- Inspection on trenching and backfilling activities and ensure it is performed as per project specification, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor soil excavation and earth works and ensure it is performed as per project specification, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor structural steel works and roofing and ensure it is performed as per project specification, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor roads and paving and ensure it is performed as per project specification, procedures, and standards.
- Perform pre-pour inspections and formally verify pour readiness (formwork, reinforcement, embedments, cleanliness, access, weather conditions) prior to approval of concrete pour RFIs.
- Monitor and verify concrete curing methods, protection measures, and curing duration to ensure compliance with project specifications and prevent early-age defects.
- Review and monitor laboratory testing of concrete (fresh, hardened and aggregates).
- Review and monitor laboratory soil testing and determination of moisture content.
- Monitor and check steel reinforcement.
- Monitor piles testing.
- Review site civil GA drawings and provide support to site civil team construction activities.
- Shall be thoroughly familiar with civil construction materials and construction methods.
- Shall have good experience in testing of civil construction materials.
- Shall have thorough knowledge in international codes and standards for civil design, construction and testing of materials and works.
- Implement QA/QC activities including those of sub-contractors works in accordance with approved QCP/ITPs and procedures, method statements and other contract documents.
- Prepare and sign off applicable RFI records for quality surveillance, inspections, and tests.
- Maintain records of calibration, inspection, and testing equipment.
- Witness procedures, tests and certify the results.
- Provide sufficient feedback and daily reports to QA/QC Lead on the day to day quality issues.
- Shall be conversant with the final HO dossiers.
- Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed.
- Raise and support closure of NCRs in coordination with QA/QC Lead.
- Verify survey control activities, including levels, alignment, coordinates, and dimensional tolerances, to ensure construction accuracy of civil and structural works.
- Participate in joint inspections and walk-downs with client, consultant, and third-party inspectors, ensuring comments are recorded and followed through to closure.
- Inspect completed civil and structural works for preservation, protection, and housekeeping, ensuring works are not damaged prior to handover or subsequent activities.
Skills and experience:
- Minimum 10 years quality management experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Good knowledge of international standards and all relevant local standards and laws.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Must be proactive and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in English language.
Educational experience:
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Professional accreditation preferred.
- Preferred successful completion of ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor training or transition course.
