CWI Engineering Team Lead
Position Details
- Department: Wells
- Location: Majnoon Oil Field – Basra, Iraq. 28/28 rotation
- Reports to: CWI Section Head
- Direct Reports: Senior CWI Engineers, CWI Engineers
1. Role Purpose
Provide technical leadership in engineering planning, design, and technical assurance for all completions, workover, well intervention and well integrity activities. Drive operational excellence, technical assurance, contractor performance, and regulatory compliance across all CWI functions.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesHSSE & Well Integrity
- Champion a proactive safety culture with Zero Harm.
- Conduct site safety visits, audits, and toolbox talk reviews.
- Lead incident reporting and root‑cause investigations.
- Ensure compliance with well integrity standards such as NORSOK D‑010
Engineering Leadership
- Lead a team of Senior Engineers and Engineers responsible for completions and intervention planning.
- Provide technical assurance and oversight for all engineering deliverables.
- Ensure engineering designs align with field development strategies and operational priorities.
- Develop and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and barrier philosophies.
Program Development & Technical Assurance
- Oversee preparation and approval of Completion, Workover, and Intervention programs.
- Ensure technical accuracy of schematics, tool strings, risk assessments, and contingency plans.
- Lead technical reviews, peer reviews, and assurance processes.
- Champion well integrity compliance in alignment with company and international standards.
Operational Support & Problem Solving
- Provide high‑level technical support during critical operations and complex well issues.
- Analyze operational data, equipment failures, and NPT to drive performance improvements.
- Lead root-cause investigations and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
- Support SIMOPS planning and coordination with Production, Subsurface, and Drilling.
Cost & Schedule Control
- Support development of budgets, forecasts, and AFE inputs.
- Monitor job efficiency, performance, and operational KPIs.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Contractor & Performance Management
- Lead technical interface with service companies and contractors.
- Evaluate technical proposals, equipment specifications, and new technologies.
- Support tendering, technical evaluations, scopes of work, and contract management.
- Monitor service quality and ensure alignment with engineering requirements.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, and competency development for supervisors and engineers.
- Ensure Engineering staff competency through training and development.
- Promote collaboration between field and office‑based teams.
Reporting & Governance
- Ensure documentation accuracy in systems such as WellView, OpenWells, and well integrity databases.
- Lead lessons learned reviews and integrate improvements into engineering workflows.
- Track engineering KPIs and support performance reporting to senior management.
- Ensure governance compliance for all engineering processes and documentation.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 10–15+ years of experience in completions, well intervention, workover, and well integrity engineering disciplines.
- Valid IWCF Level 4 Well Intervention Pressure Control certification.
- Strong experience leading CWI engineering teams in high‑activity onshore fields.
- Comprehensive understanding of well integrity standards (e.g., NORSOK D‑010), well control, and barrier management.
- Strong knowledge of international standards (API, ISO, IOGP) and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Expertise in completion, CT, slickline, e-line, ESP, stimulation, and workover engineering.
- Experience in Iraq/Majnoon preferred.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
