Position Overview
The Field IT Support Engineer will be responsible for providing comprehensive on-site IT support for the Majnoon Project located in Basra, Iraq. This essential role is critical for maintaining and overseeing the IT infrastructure, ensuring strict compliance with all global IT policies, and consistently delivering high-quality technical support to project teams working in a challenging and remote environment. The engineer will play a key part in keeping systems operational and supporting the success of the project’s technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Field based IM/IT Lead and ensure project compliance with global IT standards and policies.
- Configure and provision hardware including laptops, desktops, and engineering workstations.
- Provide local desktop support and expedite software and hardware requests for site teams.
- Deliver hardware and software troubleshooting, escalating incidents to global support teams when necessary.
- Conduct IT induction and training for new starters, ensuring adherence to security protocols.
- Manage network drive access and enforce security measures for sensitive project data.
- Oversee project software subscription requirements and ensure timely renewals.
- Support deployment and maintenance of multifunction devices (printers, scanners, copiers).
- Expedite hardware procurement activities, maintain IT stock levels, and track asset registration.
- Prepare detailed reports on IT incidents and coordinate resolution with global teams.
- Monitor IT compliance and security audits for site infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT processes and asset lifecycle.
- Assist with remote connectivity solutions and VPN troubleshooting for field staff.
Qualifications & Experience- Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT support or infrastructure management.
- Strong knowledge of hardware provisioning, network security, and IT asset management.
- Experience in remote site operations and rotational assignments preferred.
Certifications (Preferred)- ITIL v4 Foundation
- CompTIA A+ / Server+
- Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP)
Technical Skills- Hardware configuration and troubleshooting
- Networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN)
- Software installation and support
- Incident management and escalation
- IT asset tracking and reporting
Languages- English (Fluent)
- Arabic (Preferred but not mandatory)
