Job Summary

The Officer, Cash Management Operations plays a critical role within Standard Chartered's payment processing centre, headquartered in Baghdad, Iraq. The role focuses on crafting and evolving payment service products, positioning the processing centre as a key revenue generator. It involves strategic oversight to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness, with vigilant management of service costs including courier, communication, and other miscellaneous expenses.




The officer will be instrumental in safeguarding the financial integrity of transactions, avoiding revenue leakages and ensuring all service-related debits to profit and loss accounts have appropriate authorization. A central responsibility is delivering high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong working relationships across departments and with large corporate clients, particularly advising on optimal transfer methods to exchange-controlled countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly verify and authenticate all transactions processed through the Cash Processing Centre (CPC), ensuring adherence to remitter instructions and internal control policies.

  • Promptly resolve all internal reconciliation issues, including sundry, erroneous, and customer service accounts, maintaining daily oversight to minimize unreconciled entries, particularly Nostro accounts.

  • Consistently meet or exceed the established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to transaction turnaround times, complaint resolution, and enquiry management, coordinating closely with various business units.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures related to Cash Management Operations (CMO) products, ensuring compliance and robust risk management.

  • Manage custodial responsibilities including bank keys and bulk stock as required, ensuring security and operational continuity.

  • Provide backup supervisory support as needed to maintain seamless workflow and operational excellence across desks.

  • Meticulously check cheques and payment instruments, including returned items and pre-dated cheques (PDCs/PDCDs), processing them accurately in alignment with customer directives and clearing system requirements.

  • Implement rigorous reconciliation processes for all financial instruments to detect and prevent revenue leakage, ensuring all tariff applications are properly authorized and applied.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to foster cross-functional relationships and support ongoing process improvements that enhance financial control and service delivery.


Skills and Experience



  • Comprehensive understanding of payment systems, processes, and regulatory frameworks, particularly within the banking and financial services sector.

  • Proven experience in handling operational risks associated with payment transactions and cash management operations.

  • Strong proficiency in SWIFT messaging standards and payment entry procedures to ensure accurate and efficient processing.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders, including large corporate clients and internal teams.

  • Experience in using financial reconciliation tools and software to minimize errors and ensure seamless transaction processing.

  • Commitment to adhering to compliance standards and promoting a culture of risk awareness and operational excellence.
