<p>Overview ***This position will be physically located in Iraq in support of LOGCAP.*** Under the supervision of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief responsible for Fire Station daily operations to ensure personnel are well-trained and capable to perform their duties effectively and on short notice. Select and guide firefighters to perform as expected when called upon and will continually assess their readiness and performance. This assessment will maintain daily awareness of fire inspections, fire services, inspection and testing of fire protection and alarm systems, firefighter training, and fire drills. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Manage installation FES to include maintaining operating instructions, Master Plan, Standards of Coverage, manpower, equipment and supplies. + Develop and implement plans to cover for reduced operational capabilities; response, staffing, pollution prevention, safety of personnel, operational risk + Manage compliance self-inspection program IAW Army Installation Command checklist ensuring requirements contained in Amy Regulation 420-1. + Performance Work Statement, DoDI 6055.6 are continually maintained. + Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommend and administer policies and procedures; oversee and participate in the development of new fire ordinances. + Provide 24/7 FES to the installation. Services include on-scene incident management, aircraft rescue and firefighting, structural firefighting, response to hazardous materials, technical rescue to include auto extrication and confined space rescue and emergency medical services support. + Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommend, within company policy, appropriate service and staffing levels. + Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for fire service staff; assign work activities, projects, and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures. + Meet with staff to identify and resolve problems. + Select, train, motivate, and evaluate fire service personnel. + Provide or coordinate staff training. + Work with employees to correct deficiencies. + Implement discipline and termination procedures. + Ensure that equipment, safety clothing, apparatus, and supplies are specified, purchased, received, distributed in an effective and consistent + Performs Job Duties as assigned. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Work is performed in a standard office with frequent travel to various locations to attend meetings and/or perform Department activities in responding to emergency scenes, disasters, or critical incidents; the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and wet and/or humid conditions; occasionally works in high, precarious places; occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, the noise level is occasionally very loud due to sirens, etc., wear protective apparel including goggles, face protector, aprons, safety shoes, and self-contained breathing apparatus; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends. + Physical Requirements: + Light work. Assists in the planning, direction and coordination of various activities of the fire prevention services program including a comprehensive inspection program of all listed base facilities to detect and eliminate hazards at the assigned installation. Plans, administers, and supervises the fire prevention education program. Assists with the development of base fire regulations, training programs, and fire hazard assessment schedules. Monitors & coordinates Hazard Assessment Inspection Program, Public Fire Prevention and Education Program. Reviews construction and modification plans, confers with engineers and provides technical/functional assistance on fire prevention and building design criteria. The Lead Process Safety Engineer (LPSE) will be a member of the Central Engineering Team reporting into the Process Safety Team Lead (PSTL). The LPSE will provide deep process safety engineering expertise and judgment in service of the operation and development of the Rumaila field.
