<p><strong>Overview</strong></p><p>As a CNC Department Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all CNC machining operations within the IML mold manufacturing facility. The role ensures that mold components are manufactured according to engineering drawings, specifications, and required tolerances while maintaining the highest standards of precision and quality.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li><p>-Manage the CNC department and directly supervise CNC programmers, operators, and technicians</p></li><li><p>-Assign tasks and distribute workloads according to production priorities, employee capabilities, and project requirements</p></li><li><p>-Prepare daily and weekly CNC machine schedules based on mold production priorities and delivery deadlines</p></li><li><p>-Monitor departmental performance and ensure production targets are achieved</p></li><li><p>-Review engineering drawings, 3D models, technical specifications, and mold component requirements before machining begins</p></li><li><p>-Review and approve CNC programs and toolpaths and ensure appropriate machining strategies are selected</p></li><li><p>-Supervise roughing, semi-finishing, finishing, drilling, and other required machining operations</p></li><li><p>-Determine appropriate cutting tools, cutting speeds, feeds, machining parameters, and workholding/fixture methods</p></li><li><p>-Ensure proper machining strategies are applied to achieve required dimensional accuracy, tolerances, and surface finishes</p></li><li><p>-Oversee the machining of critical IML mold components, particularly cores, cavities, inserts, and high-precision components</p></li><li><p>-Ensure CNC programs and machining processes minimize the risk of machine collisions, programming errors, and component damage</p></li><li><p>-Monitor the progress of each mold and compare actual machining hours against planned hours</p></li><li><p>-Identify and address causes of delays, inefficiencies, and production bottlenecks</p></li><li><p>-Supervise in-process and final inspection of machined components</p></li><li><p>-Ensure components meet engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and quality requirements before moving to the next manufacturing stage</p></li><li><p>-Reduce machining errors, rework, scrap, and production losses</p></li><li><p>-Work closely with the Quality Department to resolve dimensional and machining-related issues</p></li><li><p>-Coordinate closely with Design, CAD/CAM, EDM/Wire EDM, Grinding, Mold Assembly, Quality, and Production teams</p></li><li><p>-Ensure smooth transfer of technical information and components between manufacturing stages</p></li><li><p>-Support troubleshooting of manufacturing issues and provide technical recommendations to relevant departments</p></li><li><p>-Monitor cutting tool condition, consumption, availability, and replacement requirements</p></li><li><p>-Establish and maintain an effective Tool Life Management system</p></li><li><p>-Monitor tooling inventory and coordinate procurement requirements where necessary</p></li><li><p>-Ensure CNC machines are maintained in proper operating condition</p></li><li><p>-Coordinate with the Maintenance Department regarding machine breakdowns and technical issues</p></li><li><p>-Support preventive maintenance planning to minimize machine downtime</p></li><li><p>-Analyze machine downtime and utilization and identify opportunities to improve machine capacity and efficiency</p></li><li><p>-Develop and implement machining strategies to reduce machining time while maintaining required quality and precision</p></li><li><p>-Identify opportunities to improve CNC productivity, machine utilization, and workflow efficiency</p></li><li><p>-Analyze machining errors and recurring technical problems and implement corrective actions</p></li><li><p>-Evaluate new CNC technologies, machines, tooling, and machining methods and provide technical recommendations to management</p></li><li><p>-Train, coach, and develop CNC programmers, operators, and technicians</p></li><li><p>-Evaluate team performance and identify technical skill gaps and training requirements</p></li><li><p>-Promote a culture of accountability, quality, precision, and continuous improvement</p></li><li><p>-Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and machine operating requirements</p></li><li><p>-Maintain proper housekeeping and implementation of 5S principles within the CNC department</p></li><li><p>-Present technical and operational recommendations to senior management when required</p></li></ul><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li><p>-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, or any related field</p></li><li><p>-Strong practical experience in CNC machining and plastic injection mold manufacturing</p></li><li><p>-Direct experience in high-precision IML mold manufacturing is highly preferred</p></li><li><p>-Strong experience with 3-axis CNC machining</p></li><li><p>-experience with 5-axis machining is an advantage</p></li><li><p>-Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software used in mold manufacturing</p></li><li><p>-Proven experience supervising CNC programmers, operators, and technicians</p></li><li><p>-Understanding of mold steels and other materials commonly used in injection mold manufacturing</p></li><li><p>-Ability to calculate and optimize cutting parameters, feeds, speeds, and machining conditions</p></li><li><p>-Knowledge of tool life management and machining optimization</p></li><li><p>-Strong understanding of the relationship between CNC, EDM, Wire EDM, Grinding, and Mold Assembly processes</p></li></ul>
