Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Implements a standardized ESH program, which is Management System based + Performs risk analysis, develops programs that exceed basic regulatory compliance + Identifies needed resources (such as personal protective equipment) and budget for resources + Identifies required training for employees in various operations, performs and documents training, documents and submits monthly performance metrics + Performs ESH inspections, and implements employee reward and recognition program + Reads and understands regulatory compliance and submits any documentation required to operate under permits (such as air, hazardous waste, and water) + Communicates (manage-from-the-floor type) with senior management, area supervisors, and regulators to help implement a complete ESH program Qualifications + Minimum Qualifications: + Education/Certifications: + One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. + Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or Technical certification in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science/Management. + Must be a U.S. Citizen + Experience: + Minimum of five (5) years of experience in environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, ISO experience, and hazardous waste management and pollution prevention. + Supervisory/Leadership experience (Desired) + Knowledge of Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), Department of Defense (DoD) environmental regulations, and US Army Safety and Environmental Regulations, including Federal OSHA and EPA regulations. + Military background and training beneficial. + Skills: + Ability to instruct small and medium groups of people, Competent in computer operations to include Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. + Must have a strong ability to work independently as a member of a robust team. + Able to manage others to complete assigned task + Supervisory Responsibilities: + May supervise ESH specialists. + Working Conditions: + Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. + Physical Requirements: + Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Project Context and Scope The Consultant will be supporting Conservation Agriculture activities within IOM Iraq s Climate Programme. <p>The Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing mechanical equipment, machinery, and production systems within the farm. The position ensures that all machinery operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while minimizing equipment downtime and supporting continuous production.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on factory machinery and mechanical equipment.</li><li>Inspect machines regularly to identify mechanical problems, wear, leaks, or potential failures.</li><li>Diagnose mechanical faults and determine the appropriate repair or replacement requirements.</li><li>Repair, dismantle, assemble, and replace mechanical components such as bearings, belts, chains, gears, shafts, pumps, valves, and couplings.</li><li>Carry out routine lubrication, alignment, adjustment, and calibration of mechanical equipment.</li><li>Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and production maintenance requests.</li><li>Assist in the installation, commissioning, and relocation of machinery and production equipment.</li><li>Conduct routine inspections and maintenance according to established schedules.</li><li>Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, technical specifications, and maintenance instructions.</li><li>Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment safely and effectively.</li><li>Work closely with production operators to identify equipment issues and minimize production interruptions.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts, and equipment failures.</li><li>Identify recurring mechanical problems and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability.</li><li>Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in accordance with factory safety procedures and applicable standards.</li><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance workshop and work area.</li><li>Assist with maintaining adequate stocks of mechanical spare parts and maintenance materials.</li><li>Follow lockout/tagout and other applicable safety procedures before working on machinery.</li><li>Support the Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering team with maintenance projects and equipment improvements.</li><li>Perform other duties related to mechanical maintenance as assigned by management.</li></ul>
