<p><h4>Duties</h4>
<p>Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.<br>

Ensure data accuracy and update of equipment inventory database.<br>

Process excess documentation for all controlled and non-controlled excess equipment and materials.<br>
Review, reconcile, adjust, and process all inventory transactions.<br>
Process and coordinate equipment transfers.<br>
Assist in a broad scope of direct and indirect support activities involving customer owned equipment as necessary to complete assigned tasks.<br>
Conduct daily inspections of assigned equipment and immediately report defects or maintenance requirements.<br>
Assist with scrap metal processing and preparation for disposal or recycling.<br>
Assist in contingency waste removal operations during emergencies, special events, or increased operational requirements.<br>

<h4>Required</h4>

<h4>Working and Living Conditions</h4>
<p>This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. <p>Event Management Service for a Social Dialogue Workshops Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq 6 and 18th August 2026 Background and Context: More than 1.1 million Iraqis remain in protracted displacement, concentrated in the KRI and Ninawa. The Employment and Employability project has documented youth unemployment among some IDP groups at 49.6%, female refugee labour-force participation below 3% in Erbil and Duhok, and informality rates around 94% among young displaced men. The Iraqi Government's ongoing closure of IDP camps adds urgency: without a tripartite framework, people leaving camps risk moving into unprotected informal work with no recourse. The first social dialogue session will be based on the Policy Brief, Refugees, IDPs and labour market Integration in Iraq and Kurdish Region of Iraq: Advancing Inclusion through Employment that was commissioned by the GIZ supported project, Promoting Employment and Employability among Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Host Communities focusing on Women, PWDs, and Youths in Northern Iraq. That alone gives the session a concrete, ready-to-sign output. The broader discussion on labour market access barriers and active labour market policies adds systemic value. In addition, a second social dialogue will be held to discuss labour migration. <p>Job specification:
The postholder plays a critical role in the readiness of Canines. He/She is the lead in overseeing canine operations, and ensuring K9 readiness, compliance with MOI K9 Training & Evaluation Directorate and aviation security standards, and effective deployment of K9 teams to check points for screening and patrols where required. The post holder works directly for the Head of the K9 Unit in managing the daily operations, canine logistics, and closely with the K9 Training Team in ensuring that all handlers and K9s are fully trained, certified and operationally effective. He/She works with the Unit Veterinarian in overseeing canine welfare, daily nutrition and daily kenneling activities. Finally, to support the Head of K9 Unit in liaising with regulatory authorities and ensuring compliance with the MOI Directorate of Training & Evaluation with Veterinary and Technical compliance standards required for certification, through drills, exercises and evaluations.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
a) Operational Oversight :
• Supervise daily activities of K9 handlers and dogs across EDD and NDD teams.
• Plan and coordinate deployment schedules for detection operations across all checkpoints.
• Coordinate with airport security, and where necessary customs, and law enforcement for joint operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational standards.
• Ensure optimal rotation and rest schedules for dogs and handlers.
b) Training & Development Support :
• Coordinate schedules with the K9 Training staff for regular training sessions for EDD and NDD teams, including simulated threat scenarios.
• Work with the K9 Training Staff to evaluate performance and readiness of K9 teams.
• Implement continuous improvement strategies for detection accuracy.
• Work with the Head of K9 Unit and the K9 Training staff to implement corrective training plans and maintain certification standards.
c) Translation & Liaison Duties :
• Translate operational briefings, SOPs, incident reports, and communications between multilingual teams.
• Act as liaison and facilitate communication between international management/supervisors, local handlers, and airport authorities.
• Ensure accurate real-time interpretation during joint operations, inspections, audits and emergency responses.
d) Canine Welfare & Logistics :

• Enforce SOPs are related to canine deployment, search protocols, and handler conduct.

<p>Support the coordination of mission wide data collection and field monitoring activities, ensuring alignment with approved project documents, Results Monitoring Frameworks (RMFs), donor requirements, and IOM monitoring standards. Contribute to the implementation of monitoring plans, including RMFs, indicator tracking tools, roles and responsibilities matrices, and data collection plans, in line with IOM Results Based Management (RBM) principles.
