<p><b>Job Objectives/Project context:</b></p><p><br></p><p>The project is a gas plant located in Iraq, delivered under a DBOOM (Design, Build, Own, Operate, Maintain) contract. The Construction phase and Mechanical Completion are ongoing, Commissioning to be started very sooner. An experienced reinforcement is required to support the Commissioning & Start-Up Manager, drive contractors across all disciplines and accelerate activities in fast-track mode, with no compromise on safety or quality.</p><p><br></p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><p><br></p><p>Monitoring & driving: Ensure day-to-day monitoring of contractors’ progress across all disciplines (ICSS, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, utilities…).</p><p>Acceleration: Challenge contractors, identify bottlenecks, enforce priorities and push teams to meet commissioning milestones.</p><p>Methodology: ORBIT methodology is considered for this project for the follow up of (subsystems, ITR, punch lists, MC/RFCC, completion dossiers). </p><p>Documentation: To make sure of the readiness of procedure and dossier to be ready for the activities. <p>The Chief Engineer will be based at one of the Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all water purification, water storage, water distribution and wastewater treatments, as well as generators, and associated power generation, transmission and distribution equipment. The Chief Engineer is also responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of power plants, generators, compressors, air conditioning systems, etc., and operates industrial machinery and equipment in various forms.</p><p>DUTIES:</p><ul><li>Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace.</li><li>Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. <p>To install, assemble, align, and complete Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, generators, and auxiliary mechanical equipment safely and accurately. To ensure all installation and alignment work meets OEM specifications, project quality standards, and HSE requirements. To support mechanical completion, inspection, commissioning, and punch-list clearance activities.</p><p>Install and assemble Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment. Perform precision alignment of rotating equipment using laser alignment and conventional methods. Install bearings, couplings, seals, diaphragms, casings, valves, and piping connections. Carry out dimensional checks, equipment elevation, centerline, and tolerance verification as per OEM requirements. Assist with turbine casing assembly, rotor installation, rotor coupling, and turning gear installation. Perform flange assembly and controlled bolting/hydraulic torqueing. Conduct inspection, flushing, preservation, and mechanical completion activities. Support commissioning and mechanical run-test activities when required. Participate in punch-list clearance and quality inspections. Maintain installation records, inspection reports, and quality documentation. Follow all HSE requirements, work permits, safety procedures, and site instructions. Coordinate effectively with mechanical, electrical, commissioning, QA/QC, and other site teams.</p><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in rotating equipment installation.</li><li>Experience in power plant construction projects.</li><li>Knowledge of Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator, and auxiliary equipment installation.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings.</li><li>Knowledge of turbine alignment, rotor installation, and flange assembly.</li><li>Familiarity with Dial Indicators, Micrometers, Feeler Gauges, Precision Levels, and Laser Alignment Systems.</li><li>Knowledge of hydraulic torqueing and mechanical assembly practices.</li><li>Ability to understand and follow OEM installation drawings and manuals.</li><li>Good English communication and reading ability.</li></ul>
