<p>Amentum is seeking a Welder to support maintenance and repair of various naval vessels such as 60-meter Offshore Support Vessels (OSV), 35-meter Patrol Boats (PB), 26-foot Defender Class, and Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIB). This position supports the Iraq Vessel Maintenance and Repair (VMR) program. This position is for a full-time, in-country position. The work location will be at the Iraqi Naval Base in the port of Umm Qasr, Iraq. Essential responsibilities and daily duties will include:</p><p>Perform various welding and structural repair tasks, including modifications, and fabrications to ensure the structural integrity of the naval vessels. Collaborate and coordinate with key members of the VMR support team to effectively plan, execute, and report tasking associated with OSV, PB and Defender class, and RHIB vessels to include the industrial manager, site manager, project manager, and other technical support personnel. Provide technical expertise to ensure the successful completion of all welding performed onboard OSV, PB and Defender class, and RHIB vessels. Identify all issues that impact safety, quality, or task schedules and notify the Industrial Manager, site manager, and project manager. Provide recommendations to the Industrial Manager, site manager, and project manager to mitigate identified issues. Develop solutions or recommendations to minimize system/equipment downtime and collaborate with both the customer and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction. Assess work requirements to identify the parts and materials needed. Perform installation and configuration of equipment as required. Ensure that the equipment is properly installed, configured to perform optimally, and inspected for any defects. Participate in required meetings including weekly teleconferences and Work Definition Conferences with program stakeholders. Comply with all Contract Deliverable Requirement List (CRDL) requirements.</p><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent.</li><li>Six (6) years of progressive experience is required in servicing ship or submarine systems, including the planning of field services.</li><li>Four (4) years of that experience is required to have been obtained in welding aboard ships or similar materials (aluminum and steel).</li><li>Must have specialized training in welding and understand implementation of various types of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) in use for welding applications.</li><li>Ability to work independently and in a team environment.</li><li>Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.</li><li>Must be proficient in English.</li><li>Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS.</li><li>Ability to obtain a country clearance and base pass authorization.</li><li>Note: US citizenship is required.</li><li>Ability to possess an active passport at least two years after arrival in Iraq.</li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications : Foreign Military Sales experience.</p>

<p>Event Management Service for a Social Dialogue Workshops Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq 6 and 18th August 2026 Background and Context: More than 1.1 million Iraqis remain in protracted displacement, concentrated in the KRI and Ninawa. The Employment and Employability project has documented youth unemployment among some IDP groups at 49.6%, female refugee labour-force participation below 3% in Erbil and Duhok, and informality rates around 94% among young displaced men. The Iraqi Government's ongoing closure of IDP camps adds urgency: without a tripartite framework, people leaving camps risk moving into unprotected informal work with no recourse. The first social dialogue session will be based on the Policy Brief, Refugees, IDPs and labour market Integration in Iraq and Kurdish Region of Iraq: Advancing Inclusion through Employment that was commissioned by the GIZ supported project, Promoting Employment and Employability among Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Host Communities focusing on Women, PWDs, and Youths in Northern Iraq. That alone gives the session a concrete, ready-to-sign output. The broader discussion on labour market access barriers and active labour market policies adds systemic value. In addition, a second social dialogue will be held to discuss labour migration. Iraq recently issued new regulations on the recruitment and employment of foreign workers, creating an urgent implementation challenge that is felt differently at the federal and KRI levels. Federal and KRI frameworks diverge on work permits, recruitment procedures and labour market access a gap raised repeatedly in joint Federal MOLSA KRI discussions. At the same time, migrant workers and refugees in the KRI face documented gaps in labour rights protection, access to justice and social security coverage. This session gives the Tripartite Committee its first major substantive policy discussion: one where all three parties have an immediate, practical interest and where their combined voice can directly influence how new regulations are implemented across both levels of government.
